Biography

As an energetic six-year-old, Laura Victoria Jones was enrolled into a local gymnastics programme with her two older sisters, Emma and Katrina. It was here at Erewash Gymnastics Club that Laura's potential was first spotted. It soon became clear that her skills had outgrown the recreational classes and the coach, Mick Newton, recommended that Laura be enrolled in a more intensive training system. Laura was sent for a trial at the esteemed Notts Gymnastics Club and successfully passed the testing and has never looked back! She started off training 3 times a week, and this has now grown to 5 days a week - 6 nearer to competitions! Laura credits the support of her older sister Katrina as one of the main reasons she has excelled so well in the sport.

Laura lives with her parents, Jackie and Glyn, her two sisters, and her younger brother, Sam. Laura has three pet parrots, one of whom can sing "Old MacDonald Had A Farm!". They are a blue and gold Macaw called Jake, an African Grey called Charlie, and Bobby - the singer, is a Blue Fronted Parrot. The family also has two German Sheppard dogs called Sheba and Marcus.

Laura is lucky enough to attend the Rushcliffe School, which is on the same site as Notts Gymnastics Club, so there isn't any travelling involved from school to gym. Laura is in year 9 and will start her GCSE courses this coming September. She trains for a couple of hours before school three times a week, and then 3:30 - 7:30/8:00pm every week day except Thursdays which is a day off along with Sundays.

Like most girls her age, Laura is a shop-a-holic and loves to hit Nottingham's fantastic shopping district when she gets some time off. She also loves buying leotards and owns 65-70! She also enjoys going to the cinema with her friends.
