Welcome to the official website of Laura Jones, a 15-year-old champion gymnast from Great Britain. Laura competes on four pieces of apparatus; the vault, bars, beam and floor. Training 30+ hours per week at Notts Gymnastics Club, she competes regionally, national and also internationally. Laura is the current British Schools senior champion and won silver over-all at the 2005 British Espoir Championships, where she claimed gold on floor and beam. Laura has earned the nickname “Beam Queen” due to her steady work on this piece of apparatus. She is the only gymnast in Great Britain to be able to perform a triple twist dismount from the beam – one of the hardest dismounts in the code of points!
In 2006 Laura made her name known on the international scene by placing 5th on her favourite event, beam, at the Junior European Championships in Greece. This excellent result is the highest ever placing for a British gymnast on beam in a major international competition – surely a promising sign for Laura’s future gymnastics career.
Laura’s goals for gymnastics are to continue competing for Great Britain at international events and to represent England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which will take place in India. Laura’s ultimate goal is to become an Olympian and represent Britain in 2008 and 2012 at the Olympic Games.
We hope you have enjoyed your visit to Laura’s site and will continue to visit the site in the future. Please sign the guestbook – Laura loves reading all your supportive messages.
