DECEMBER 12TH 2007
Hey Guys! Just want to say a BIG MERRY CHRISTMAS! Sorry I haven't written a lot. It's because I've been away for basically the whole year!
Anyway, this is just a few of the competitions I have done and what I've thought about the whole experience ...
Being selected for the worlds team was just a dream for me. Could have been even better if I had competed but I thought to myself that I will have to work harder for next year! The build up to the worlds was that we had to spend our whole 6 weeks holidays training at Lilleshall, but it was definitely worth it in the end!
When we arrived at Lilleshall on the first day, we were all pleased to see one another. I shared a room with my team mate Becky Downie. We train everyday from 9 - 12:30, and then 3:30 - 6:30, except we had every Thursday afternoon and the whole of Sunday off! =] On our day off either our parents could come to see us or we went shopping or to the cinema. Because Becky Wing, Becky Downie and myself were in year 10 (year 11 now!) we all had coursework that we had to catch up on.
During the first week at Lilleshall it was Becky Wing's birthday, so all the girls decided to throw a party for Becky in someone's room, didn't quite go to plan! On our other days off we went to Alton Towers, Bowling and did a fun "Ready, Steady, Cook" at Addy's house!
Week 3 we flew out to the Czech Republic for a competition. Its was one of the best comps for everyone because we all had clean competitions. One of the coaches promised to buy us all pancakes if we went clean. Everyone still ate the pancakes even though they weren't nice. We were in the Czech Republic around 5 days and then arrived back at Lilleshall for a week. Week 5 we were back on our travels again but this time only to Ipswich, which was our last trial before the team was announced. I came 7th over all, and won beam in the finals.
When the team was announced on our last day before leaving Lilleshall everyone was crying with joy.
The team left for the worlds on the following Friday but I couldn't fly with them, as it was my sister's wedding. The day was wonderful and I was very happy allowing Jason into the family and being my brother-in-law. I flew out to Stuttgart the following day with my coach Claire Starkey and the GB boys.
When we arrived at the hotel at worlds, it was a 5* star because of security risks. Then we had to go and pick up our accreditations and then got the bus back with all the girls. A lot of the days we trained in the morning and then late at night, But some nights we didn't finish until 10:30 so we had to have cereal in the rooms for dinner. lol! One day me and Marissa missed the bus so we had to get the train with one of the american team mates. hehe turns out we were on the same train as the other girls. haha!
When the girls were competing I was there cheering them all the way. When it came to team finals our director tried to organise me to compete but they wouldn't allow it. :(
As the competition was over for the other girls I still had to train because a couple of weeks after we got back I was going to Japan.
Japan was amazing! When we arrived all I did was basically sleep, because no one I knew was there I was pretty bored, but then I got to know the Australian and the American gymnast =]. I had a clean comp which I was really pleased with. After the comp we traveled to Tokyo and went to a theme park. It was so much fun!
On the 18th of November GB gymnast flew out to Macau for a week. We trained everyday except for Thursday we had a half day. We made up an awesome dance, which we had to show to the coaches the next day. On sunday we flu to Beijing, were we trained at the national training centre were Cheng Fei trained! We had 2 days shopping which was amazing because all we did was bargain. All of the gymnast bought a pair of UGG boots each and lots more! On the monday we went to the great wall! This was a great experience, we must have climbed more than 1000 steps! Everyone took a piece of the of the wall home with us! And that was the end of our trip! hehe
Thanks to everyone for supporting me and the team and thanks to all of the coaches =] for all your hard work and thanks to everyone who signs my guestbook! please keep signing it =]
JANUARY 22ND 2006
Sorry everyone that I have not written before but I have been very busy. What with doing gym and school work, there are sometimes not enough hours in the day.
This is a very important year for both gym and school as I am studying for my GCSEs. I am very excited at the moment as on Thursday I fly out with 9 other gymnasts and 9 coaches to Houston, Texas for a 10 day senior training camp. It is supposed to be like Lilleshall, but in America. We fly from Heathrow on 25th and come back on the 6th Feb.
I am also learning a few new skills on the bars. I am learning pike Yeager and a toe-on Tkatchev, and on the beam a pike front instead of tuck front. I am also hoping to learn flick-full twist. By the end of the year I am hoping to have 5 tumbles on the floor. Also I am looking forward to August and September because a) I am going to be a bridesmaid to my sister Emma and b) I am hoping to be doing the World Championships. My sister Emma actually had to change her wedding date for this just in case I get picked for the team, which at first did not go down to well! The next couple of months are going to be busy as well with British Schools and Teams. I hope you enjoy my web site and if you do please leave me a message of what you think.
Well, I will say bye for now, and when I get back from Texas I will let you know how I got on!
